LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Veterans take to the sky this weekend to see memorials built in their honor.

Freedom Honor Flight will launch their 18th mission to the nation's capital Saturday. Setup for the day began Friday morning, preparing the room and tables for the community to see the veterans off.

World War 2, Korean War, and two terminally ill veterans are taking the trip Saturday.

However, there is a change coming for future Honor Flights.

"Now any and all veterans, regardless of your branch of service, rank, or time of service, are now eligible to apply to be part of this flight. Our priorities still remain with World War 2, Korean and Vietnam vets, but all other applicants can come in now as well,” said Freedom Honor Flights President Pat Stephens.

Festival Foods locations in La Crosse... Holmen and Onalaska raised more than $14,000 for this flight.
