A former Des Moines police officer who was given probation on a weapons charge in violation of his probation in a drug case has been recaptured.

Police say Brandon Singleton was arrested just after 7 p.m. Monday at a residence in east Des Moines. Iowa Corrections Department spokesman Fred Scaletta says Singleton's electronic tracking bracelet had been removed in violation of Singleton's probation terms. Scaletta said Singleton's family reported him missing on Friday.

Singleton was fired after he was caught with drugs in his patrol car last April. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges and given a year of probation.

Singleton was arrested on the weapons charge a month later. On November 1 he was given three years of probation and 30 days in jail on an unrelated charge.
