SPARTA, Wis. -- Bond is set for a former Monroe County jailer accused of sexually assaulting an inmate this summer.

26-year-old Jerry Friedl faces four felony counts of second-degree sexual assault.

According to court documents Friedl was employed as a Monroe County jailer when he had intimate sexual contact with a jail inmate on four occasions between August 5 and 17.

The case was investigated by the Vernon County Sheriff's Department and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.

At his first court appearance early Friday morning in Monroe County Court, a $5,000 signature bond was set for Friedl. He is set to appear in court again in February.
