The former La Crosse Police officer who filed a federal
discrimination lawsuit against the department is agreeing
to a settlement with the city.
Tony Clark claimed the department subjected him to
unwarranted internal investigations after he accused
the department of race discrimination and harrassment.
According to the settlement agreement .
Clark will receive a total of 50-thousand dollars
from the city .
in return for dropping the federal suit.
Half of that total will go to pay Clark's legal fees.
As part of the agreement .
the city will also purge all discipline records against
and Clark won't appeal the denial of his application
for disability benefits.
It also says the agreement is *not* an admission of
guilt for the City of La Crosse.
Clark has already agreed to the settlement .
but it still needs to be approved by the city council
at their next meeting on Monday.
