Western Wisconsin communities impacted by September's flooding have until the end of the week to apply for FEMA assistance.
The deadline to begin the application process for the FEMA Public Assistance program is this Friday.
The program helps communities recovering from damages caused by the severe storms, flooding and mudslides on September 21 and 22. FEMA assistance funds can be used for damages to roads, bridges, utilities, buildings and schools.
The FEMA Public Assistance program can cover up to 75-percent of the recovery expenses local municipalities would otherwise have to pay.
To apply for the program, eligible organizations must first submit a one-page 'Request for Public Assistance' form to the State of Wisconsin by Friday.
