LA CROSSE, Wis. -

Parking Ramps in the city of La Crosse may get a little bit safer soon.

The city's Parking Utility Board is putting together a resolution to put up security cameras throughout the ramps.

The money has been in the capital budget for the past three years, but with uncertainty of the cost of pay stations, lights, and the cameras, the committee waited to act.

Now that everything is coming together, one of the committee members wants it to get done especially since it will help with public safety.

"That's the way you get people doing things they shouldn't be doing and could be a detriment from the standpoint that maybe if people know there are cameras there, they might not do something," said the Vice Chair of the city's Parking Utility Board Dick Swantz.

There are no specifics about how many cameras or where they would be located. Those details are expected to come with the resolution.
