Dispute leads to knife attack
Man’s head cut by kitchen knife
A 29-year-old Madison man was cut in the top of the head with a knife by an acquaintance during an altercation Tuesday, according to Madison police.
Officers were called to the 1600 block of Wright Street at 8:04 p.m. for a report of an attack involving a knife.
Investigators said the man was attacked with the knife during a dispute that started with an inadvertent bumping incident with Dyamond M. Overstreet, 18, of Madison.
The altercation was verbal and escalated to the victim getting punched and slapped in the kitchen, according to police.
Overstreet left the kitchen and then returned and attacked the victim again. Police said she used an 8-inch kitchen knife to cut the top of the man’s head. The man then kicked Overstreet in the face, according to police.
Friends of the victim ran out of gas while taking him to the hospital. The Madison Fire Department responded to Johnson Street and Few Street to assist the victim.
The victim needed nine staples to close the 6-inch cut.
Overstreet was arrested on suspicion of second-degree recklessly endangering safety.
