Direct Cedar Rapids-Houston flights ending

United Airlines has decided to end its direct service from Cedar Rapids to Houston.
Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reports that the flights will end in April. The flights began in May 2011.
Director Tim Bradshaw, of The Eastern Iowa Airport, says the average passenger load was 69 percent. Bradshaw says that wasn't high enough to persuade United to maintain the service.
Five airlines serve Cedar Rapids, providing nonstop service to 11 cities. That will be trimmed to 10 as the Houston flights end.
