DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- The Des Moines City Council says it's time for the Occupy protesters to pack up and leave a city park.
The Des Moines Register says the council voted Monday to remove the camp at Stewart Square Park no later than Jan. 31. Protesters have had tents in the park since October.
It's been relatively peaceful at the camp, but the protesters' continued presence has fueled frustration among some residents and council members who say they weren't consulted before protesters were given permission to set up camp.
An email from Councilman Chris Coleman last week prompted City Manager Rick Clark to set the deadline. The issue was then placed on the council's agenda for Monday.
