WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) -

Pending reports of other, earlier births, it looks like a 6-pound, 12-ounce boy delivered in Des Moines was the first baby born in Iowa in 2013.

Officials say Ryder Allen Frink was born at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

His parents, Ashley and Patrick Frink, of Pleasant Hill, say he was due Jan. 6.

Among the other Iowa babies born on New Year's Day was a girl who was delivered at 12:17 a.m. at a Bettendorf hospital, a boy who arrived at 12:45 a.m. in Waterloo and a boy who was born at 1:04 a.m. at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

At St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, the first baby didn't arrive until 8:59 p.m. Tuesday.
