LA CROSSE, Wis. -

Couleecap is inviting members of the community to apply for financial assistance to further their education or advance their career field through its Skills Enhancement Program.

Couleecap says its program, which serves income-eligible adults in La Crosse, Vernon, Crawford and Monroe Counties, can help pay for books, tuition and class fees as well as transportation and child care.

Couleecap's program requirements:

Eligible applicants must be 18 years old and working a minimum of 20 hours a week. Applicants must make less than 150% of the federal poverty level, which is $$23,265 for a family of two.  Participants should be seeking a short term certificate or two year training, four year degrees are not eligible. Participants should demonstrate a willingness to use continuing education to acquire the skills necessary to increase their income.

The program is funded by a grant from the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association (WISCAP), the Department of Workforce Development, the Great Rivers United Way and the Robert and Eleanor Franke Charitable Foundation
