Fall is just around the corner.
which means road construction projects in the area
will soon be wrapping up.
News eight's Eric Jacobson joins us now with an update
on those projects.
Between Lang Drive.
and the interstate.
there have been plenty of orange barrels during the
summer throughout the La Crosse area.
But with the construction season soon ending.
we take a look at where some of these projects stand.
and how much work is left to finish.
For drivers who use interstate 90 between La Crescent
construction has been a common theme recently.
For the last two years.
workers have been busy reconstructing both the eastbound
and westbound lanes as part of a nearly 80 million
It is expected to be complete around the middle of
I think our completion date is November 18th.
The final project isn't complete.
Beginning next spring.
crews will begin working on reconstructing Rose Street
from Livingston St.
in La Crosse into Onalaska.
We'll essentially be building one half at a time.
So we'll be having traffic on either side.
Sometimes it will be two lanes in each direction,
sometimes it will be one.
There's going to be a lot of stages next year just
to get that built.
the expansion to four lanes on Highway 35 between
Onalaska and Holmen will continue to slow down drivers
in the coming weeks.
The Southbound lanes are being constructed.
and 2 roundabouts going in at Rider's Club Road and
at Mason St.
Project leaders say getting through them this fall
could be challenging.
The roundabouts are going to be tricky to go through,
because of the way we are pouring the curb and gutter.
It will be counter-intuitive for a lot of drivers.
But project leaders say given the amount of traffic
on the road.
the project is necessary.
This one will be really nice to have done.
Getting all those turning movements into the turn
lanes and reduce those conflict points.
And for those dealing with long travel times on Lang
project leaders remain hopeful on its completion date.
despite all the rain.
We are still on schedule to have everything opened
up by Oktoberfest.
IN LA CROSSE CTY., EJ, N8.
The highway 16 project between Onalaska and West Salem
is also progressing.
That project is still expected to be complete some
time later this fall.
Project leaders with the Wisconsin DOT say this was
one of the busier construction seasons in the area.
they have ever had.
