All of the plows and salt trucks in the City of La Crosse are loaded up and ready to go for when the snow comes.
Due to last year's lack of snowfall, there is plenty of salt leftover.
La Crosse Public Works Director Dale Hexom says the city was still under contract to buy a certain amount this year, but all the extra salt will mean a savings for taxpayers in 2013.
"Because we have all of that salt in storage, we were able to reduce our contractual obligation for salt purchase in 2013," Hexom said. "Because we have so much in storage right now so it's definitely a plus to the budget."
Hexom says the department is also well under their overtime budget, having spent just $13,000 of the $55,000 in the budget.
