Cedar Rapids cleans illegal waste dump
Officials in Cedar Rapids say it took city workers more than 20 man hours to clean an illegal waste dump.
The city's solid waste and recycling division and the Parks Department said Friday that workers took several days to clean the mess near a roller dam. It included more than 6,500 pounds of debris.
The debris had items like furniture, trash, roofing material and other miscellaneous items like tires and televisions.
Officials say illegal dumping has consequences including health concerns and taxpayer costs.
