Cedar Falls school chief withdraws resignation

The Cedar Falls Community School District superintendent has withdrawn a resignation he submitted only hours earlier.

Mike Wells had quit in a letter he sent Monday and in a phone call to school board President Deon Senchina.

The board had been scheduled Monday night to discuss Wells' midyear evaluation, so Senchina removed the items from the board agenda at the beginning of the meeting.

Board member Jim Brown asked Wells during the meeting why he'd quit. Wells responded by saying he was withdrawing the resignation letter because he'd gotten needed feedback from board members.

Wells said after the meeting that he had been unsure of the support he was receiving in the district.

He began working for the district in July.
