A lockdown has been lifted at Carroll University in Waukesha after a man was led away from a nearby apartment building in handcuffs.

The students were asked to stay inside buildings after two people told university safety officers they spotted a man with a gun on the northwest corner of the campus Tuesday.

The university sent a text alert to students about the incident and Waukesha police were called to the campus. Several public schools were also locked down in the area as a precaution.
