The F-B-I is investigating a rash of card skimmers
found at a number of gas station pumps across Wisconsin.
'Skimmers' are devices attached to pay pads and A-T-M's
that can steal credit and debit card information.
A total of 15 skimmers were recently found .
including five in Madison .
and one in Camp Douglas.
Experts say the skimmers that were discovered in state
were part of a wireless Bluetooth system.
So what that means is if somebody is able to get this
device in undetected, they don't have to return to
retrieve the data restored on the device - they can
remotely download that information.
Experts say you can protect yourself from card skimmers
by using 'chip' cards that can't be read by the skimmers.
They also recommend using credit cards instead of
debit cards at the pump.
