Boy, 14, shot at Atlanta middle school
Teacher injured; 1 person in police custody
A Thursday shooting at an Atlanta middle school that wounded one teenager was not random, The Associated Press reported.
The injuries suffered by the 14-year-old victim did not appear to be life-threatening, police said. The victim was shot in the back of the neck, officials said.
Something occurred between the victim and the suspect, who also was a student at Price Middle School, that led to the shooting, police spokesman Carlos Campos told the AP.
The suspect was taken into custody, the wire service reported.
A teacher received minor injuries in the "disorder" after the shooting, Campos told the AP.
After the shooting, students were kept inside for hours before being reunited with their parents Thursday evening.
The school shooting comes the same day that a prosecutor was gunned down outside a courthouse in Texas.
