LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Bell ringer registration begins with the Salvation Army Monday.

As the holidays creep closer, the group is looking to fill more than 4,000 bell ringing shifts this holiday season.

The annual Red Kettle Campaign helps fund the Salvation Army's many programs and services. Bell ringers will help the organization reach their goal of one million dollars this season.

Officials say while our area is very generous, having a volunteer makes the campaign even more successful.

"A kettle that doesn't have a volunteer at it won't bring in any money. So we really need volunteers standing at those kettles, spreading lots of Christmas cheer to get people in the spirit so they're feeling giving,” said la Crosse Salvation Army Volunteer Coordinator Heather Dutcher.

Shifts are available from 10a.m. to 8 p.m. Volunteers will be required to sign-up for a minimum of two hour shifts.
