HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) -

Prairie Home Assisted Living in Holmen had some fluffy visitors Monday morning.

Baby alpacas from the Double D Alpaca Ranch in Onalaska headed to the assisted living home. The alpaca babies, named Daisy and Madalyn, were a big hit.

The owners says alpacas are very mild-mannered, making them easier to handle around people.

"It's not necessarily the animal itself that's used to people. I think it's the fact that they get attention from birth, mixed with their lack of feistiness,” said Stephanie Doyle, of the Double D Alpaca Ranch.

One of the babies was fostered into the alpaca family shortly after its mother had passed away. The owners say it's the first time they have seen alpacas foster a baby.
