LA CROSSE, Wis. -

The Mississippi Valley Conservancy and City of La Crosse have come to an agreement over concerns with the organization's use of funds.

Earlier this year, city and state officials requested an audit of the bluffland protection agency, focusing specifically on 1.4 million dollars in grants and city money. The audit found the money was used properly.

As part of the agreement, MVC has agreed to make improvements to its accounting practices and transfer ownership of all seven properties it used city funds to purchase.

That was something MVC officials say they had agreed to do all along. "There were contract disputes between the city and MVC and all the parties have decided lets focus on moving forward and do a positive thing," said MVC Executive Director Tim Jacobson.

MVC will continue to maintain the blufflands in the area.
