Arson investigation follows Marion store fire
Authorities say a fire that damaged a furniture business in Marion was deliberately set.
A news release from the Marion Police Department says the fire was reported about 5 a.m. Wednesday at the Iowa Warehouse Furniture and Sleep Center.
Police officers and firefighters discovered that the store's front door was damaged and the interior fire sprinkler system had been activated by the blaze.
The department says the fire damage was contained to an office and storage area. But there was heavy water and smoke damage throughout the store and to adjacent businesses.
No injuries have been reported.
Police say the arson investigation is continuing.
