MADISON, Wis. -- An Arcadia dairy farmer will pay thousands of dollars in fines for allowing manure to flow from his farm to the Trempealeau River.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) says between March 2007 and September 2007 Richard Kulas allowed manure from his farm to flow over County Road JJ and into a culvert that flows to the Trempealeau River.

The DOJ also says Kulas dumped manure into a creek near his farm that drains into the Treampealeau River.

Kulas will pay more than $7,200, which includes reimbursing the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for the more than $5,700 they paid to clean up manure spills on Kulas' farm.
