Alcohol suspected in Hwy. 35 rollover that injures two
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Two people are injured, one seriously, in a suspected alcohol-related rollover acccident on Highway 35.
The accident happened just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday on Highway 35 near Nutbush City Limits.
La Crosse Police say 21-year-old Josiah Kemp of Onalaska was driving south when he lost control and rolled his vehicle down an embankment by Nutbush.
22-year-old Jakob Waite, a passenger in the vehicle, was trapped inside. Once rescue crews freed him, Waite was taken to Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse with what police describe as a very serious head injury. At last check, Waite was in critical condition.
Kemp was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse with non-life threatening injuries.
La Crosse Police are investigating the accident, but say alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
