LA CROSSE, Wis. -

Starting Monday, 75-Watt bulbs will no longer be manufactured.

Earlier this year, 100 watt bulbs went away and 60 and 40 watts will be phased out next year. They are being replaced by more expensive but more energy efficient LEDs.

But the change won't be as simple as switching one bulb for another because there are so many choices when it comes to LEDs.

"I do recommend doing your homework finding out what's out there, talking to the experts because it is a big step, and I know we all want to be more efficient when it comes to energy consumption," said Maggie Peters-Voss of Lighting Designs by Wettstein. "I think that's great, but there's a lot of different ways to do it, there's not just one right answer for everybody."

Lighting Designs still has 100 watt and 75 watt in stock if you are not ready to make the change starting January 1.
