MADISON, Wis. (AP) -

The Wisconsin State Patrol said six children are among eight people hurt in a rollover crash on the interstate in Dane County.

The rollover crash shut down all lanes of Interstate 39/90 Sunday evening.

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the crash, which happened at 6:18 p.m. at mile marker 145. That's about 3 miles south of the Beltline Highway.

All four lanes of the interstate were shut down to allow for Med Flight to land. The chopper transported at least one victim to the hospital. The state patrol did not know the extent of injuries as of Sunday night.

The children range in age from 3 to 11 years old. All lanes of the interstate were temporarily shut down to allow a medical helicopter to take one injured child from the scene. All other occupants were also taken to hospitals. The driver and front passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Officials said the driver, a 29-year-old woman, will be cited for each child who was not restrained and for driving with a suspended license.

All lanes were reopened at around 7:30 p.m. However, traffic was backed up for miles in both directions.
