A 5-year-old boy was found living in a drug house littered with needles, according to a release from Madison police.

The Dane County Narcotics Task Force was searching a home Thursday in the 5100 block of Wintergreen Drive when the child was found in the home, police said. Dane County Human Services was called to the scene.

Police said the home was littered with about 100 needles found in various rooms and other drug paraphernalia. Officers said they found ecstasy, marijuana, a shotgun and ammunition.

The boy was removed from the home and placed in a safe setting.

Felicia A. Meade, 33, of Madison, was arrested on suspicion of child neglect, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of ecstasy, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said she recently used a 94-year-old relative in an attempt to have ecstasy delivered to a Dane County Jail inmate inside a pair of shoes. Meade had given them to the relative so they could be delivered to the inmate, according to the release. The courier did not know about the contraband.
