5 injured in Vernon Co. school bus crash

TOWN OF WHEATLAND, Wis. -

Five people are injured, including three students, after a school bus crash in Vernon Co. Friday morning.

It happened just before 9:30 a.m. on Hwy. 82 in the Town of Wheatland, near De Soto.

The bus with 12 people on board was trying to make a turn when an SUV slammed into the side of it.

Four students were injured. A middle schooler and two high schoolers were taken to the hospital as a precaution and released. The driver of the SUV, 47 year old Tim Fergot, had minor injuries.

The sheriff says there was thick fog at the time of the crash. Highway 82 was closed for about 45 minutes while crews cleaned up the scene.
