TOWNSHIP of PORTLAND, Wis. -

Three people received non-life-threatening injuries after their vehicle slid off an ice-covered road and rolled over in the Township of Portland Monday morning.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department said Robert Wateski, 40, of La Crosse, was driving east on Nashville Avenue, about two miles west of Mainstream Road, when he lost control of his pickup truck while negotiating a curve at about 10:30 a.m. .

Authorities said the pickup truck went up an embankment on the north side of the road, rolled onto the passenger’s side of the vehicle, slid on its side onto the road, then rolled back onto its wheels, and then went down the embankment on the south side of the road, coming to a rest in the south ditch.

Wateski and his two passengers, Jadari Dillard, 35, and an 11-year-old boy, received non-life-threatening injuries. The 11-year-year-old was transported by ambulance to a La Crosse hospital for treatment. Authorities say the passengers and driver of the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts.
