3 dogs shot in east-central Iowa over past 2 weeks
Officials say three dogs have been shot over the past two weeks in east-central Iowa's Benton County.
Cedar Rapids television station KCRG says the most recent shooting occurred Monday near Vinton. A driver spotted the wounded dog lying in a ditch.
The dog, Griff, is recovering from the four bullet wounds at Vinton Veterinary Clinic.
Animal control officer Garrett Wittmer says two other dogs have been shot in the area over the past two weeks. He doesn't know whether the same person shot the dogs. All three are expected to recover.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office is investigating. No arrests have been reported.
Wittmer recommended that dog owners keep their animals closer to their homes.
