COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) -

Another suspicious package has shown up at the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office in Council Bluffs.

The Daily Nonpareil reports that the package was found while mail was being sorted Monday afternoon. A hazardous-materials crew was called in to handle the package.

Sheriff Jeff Danker told the newspaper that "we don't know if there was something (hazardous) in it for sure. It looked a little bulky, so we were erring on the side of caution."

On Thursday a white, powdery substance contained in a clear plastic bag was found inside a manila envelope that had been opened in the office. Danker said Monday that that powder has been tested and didn't appear to be hazardous.

He says the second package likely will be handled by U.S. Postal Service officials.
