The future of one the La Crosse School district's
oldest buildings is being discussed with neighborhood
Gorman and Company out of Oregon, Wisconsin met with
residents tonight about their plans to redevelop Roosevelt
The building is being repurposed as students will
now attend the newly-built Northside elementary.
Residents had the chance to share their concerns about
the future of the Roosevelt building.
Many say if the school is developed into apartments.
they want market-level housing to be put in
One resident who lives near the school says his main
concern is what it means
for the children in the neighborhood.
including his grandchildren.
Orginally they talked about the playground going out
of here, and that's just not an acceptable thing.
We have a playground over here by shopko, but we need
one on this side of George steet so the kids have
a place to play.
Gorman and Company will meet with neighbors of the
school again September 15th.
