The percentage of unemployed Americans is the lowest
it's been in nearly 6 years.
The U-S Labor Department says 6-point-3 percent of
people in the nation are unemployed .
and in La Crosse County we're doing even better.
at 5 point 5 percent.

the Coulee Region thrive.
The ways to search for a job have changed,
MANPOWER: 5- I would definitely look into social media.
And so have the ways employers look for their next
MANPOWER: 6- Utilize your Facebook, utilize your LinkedIn,
There's several different ways people are advertising
and how they're finding jobs in our area.
In the Coulee Region though .
job seekers continue to find work.
BILL: 2- We have more diversity with our health care,
with our three educational institutions of higher
learning, with some business services and some other
opportunities along those lines.
Having that diversity in La Crosse County .
means we don't rely on a specific industry
BILL: 3- so if a certain sector gets hit, we're able
to recover a little better with the other sectors
which keeps the county consistantly below the national
and state unemployment rates.
Experts say education and health care .
are the sectors creating the most job opportunities
in our area right now.
and they want potential employees to know .
that doesn't mean you have to be a teacher or a doctor
to get a job.
BILL: 9- We think of Gundersen and Franciscan needing
doctors and nurses, but they need maintenance and
janitorial and administrative and record keepers and
so on and so forth.
The Department of Workforce Development says business
services and manufacturing jobs are also on the rise
in the region.
