Two La Crosse police officers are recovering from
injuries, after an alleged drunk driver hit their
squad car last night.
Police say the officers were helping a stranded driver
on the side of Lang Drive around 10 p-m, when their
squad car was rear-ended by a Dodge Durango.
Both officers and the driver of the Dodge were taken
to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening
Police say the driver will face charges of operating
a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and causing injury.
This just shows that our officers are always kind
of in the line of danger out there.
This was just an ordinary call where they were helping
a motorist assist in their squad car and were rear-ended.
So it just goes to show there's always some danger
out there to this position and to this job.
Ironically, police say the officers were working Friday
night, thanks to an O-W-I grant from the Wisconsin
Department of Transportation.
