LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

A La Crosse teenager is being charged as an adult in the sexual assault of a 12-year-old.

17-year-old Joshua Ward of La Crosse appeared in court today on charges of first degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.

According to the criminal complaint the victim says Ward had sex with her in 2015 despite being told no multiple times.

Ward alleges all sexual contact was consensual and he did not know the victims age.

His bond was set at 10 thousand dollars cash. If convicted Ward faces up to 60 years in prison.
