1825: The first steam locomotive to haul a passenger train is operated by George Stephenson's Stockton & Darlington's line in England. The engine "Locomotion No. 1" pulls 34 wagons and the first purpose-built passenger car, dubbed Experiment, on its 21-mile journey.
