One person is dead after a shooting involving a law enforcement officer at a northeast Iowa hospital.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into the shooting, which happened about 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union.
Hospital CEO Steve Stark says the shooting was an "isolated incident" and that the hospital is secure and staff members are safe.
The identity of the person who was fatally shot wasn't immediately released.
Authorities also said a law enforcement officer from Fayette County was shot, but was shielded by a bulletproof vest. It wasn't immediately clear whether the officer was from the West Union police department or the Fayette County sheriff's office.
