Vernon County law enforcement, along with authorities from across Wisconsin, are trying to keep the roads safe this holiday season with the annual "Booze and Belts" campaign.
Law enforcement will be cracking down on impaired and unbelted motorists to try toward the goalof zero traffic deaths in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says last December there were 11,000 traffic crashes in the state, causing 51 deaths and more than 3,500 injuries.
"For all of us, the best gift we can give our loved ones is to ensure they come together to celebrate the holidays rather than mourn a needless injury or death," said State Patrol Major Sandra Huxtable.
The current "Booze and Belts" campaign runs through December 16.
