1916: Comedian and actor Jackie Gleason, best known for playing Ralph Kramden in the 1950s sitcom "The Honeymooners," is born in Brooklyn, N.Y. Gleason is also known for playing Minnesota Fats in the 1961 Paul Newman drama "The Hustler" and Buford T. Justice in the "Smokey and the Bandit" series.
