1952: The movie "The African Queen," starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn, and directed by John Huston, opens at the Capitol Theatre in New York City. Bogart would go on to win his first, and only, Oscar for his performance in the movie, which also earned a Best Actress nomination for Hepburn along with Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director nominations.
