1912: Golfer Byron Nelson, mostly remembered today for having won 11 consecutive tournaments and 18 total tournaments in 1945, is born in Waxahachie, Texas. Nelson collected 64 career victories, including 52 on the PGA Tour, before retiring at the age of 34 in 1946 to be a rancher. Among his victories are two Masters titles, a U.S. Open win, and two PGA Championships.
