1898: Actor Randolph Scott, whose career spanned from 1928 to 1962, with most of his work coming in westerns, is born in Orange County, Va. Some of his best known films include "The Last of the Mohicans," "Western Union," "Go West, Young Man," "Virginia City" and "Ride the High Country."
