1927: In front of 300 fans in Hinckley, Ill., the Harlem Globetrotters play their first game. The total game payout is $75. The team, newly renamed from the "Savoy Big Five" after Chicago's Savoy Ballroom, also tour Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa, playing night in and night out against any and all comers.
