1984: Wayne Gretzky, 23, of the Edmonton Oilers, becomes the 18th, and youngest, player in NHL history to score more than 1,000 points. Gretzky, who scores the point on an assist in a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings, reaches the mark in just his 424th regular-season game, the fewest by any player in NHL history.
