2001: Former Beatle George Harrison dies of lung cancer at the age of 58 in Los Angeles, Calif. Harrison, the lead guitarist for The Beatles, is known for writing songs such as "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun" while with the band. He had a successful solo career after the band broke up and also co-founded the supergroup the Traveling Wilburys with Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison in 1988.
