1889: Composer Gustav Mahler premiers his first symphony at the Vigadó Concert Hall in Budapest. Now known as Symphony No. 1 in D major, it was not well received and Mahler would make major revisions for the second performance, given at Hamburg in October 1893, and even further alterations before its first publication in late 1898.
