1920: Actress Gene Tierney, best known for her performance in the title role of "Laura" (pictured) and her Academy Award-nominated performance for Best Actress in "Leave Her to Heaven," is born in Brooklyn, N.Y. Tierney also starred in movies such as "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir," "Heaven Can Wait" and "The Razor's Edge."
