1964: According to one popularly accepted historical account, buffalo wings are created at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, N.Y. Making a late night snack for her son and his friends, owner Teressa Bellissimo takes some of the leftover chicken wings from the kitchen, fries them up, coats them with a spicy sauce, and serves them with a side of celery and bleu cheese dressing.
