1968: Barry Sanders, a Heisman Trophy winner, four-time NFL rushing champion and 1997 NFL MVP, is born in Wichita, Kan. Sanders, who played collegiately at Oklahoma State and spent his entire 10-season NFL career with the Detroit Lions, is an inductee of both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
