jlivingston@wkbt.comJennifer is proud to say she is the newsroom veteran at WKBT. She grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and fell in love with journalism after a high school job shadow at a local TV station.
She graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa in 1997 and started at News 8 shortly after that as a general assignment reporter. Jennifer is on her 11th year anchoring News 8 this morning. She’s also the reporter behind our Emmy award winning 'In Search Of…' series.
Favorite song: The newsroom teases me that I like anything a tween or teenager loves. (Those Jonas brothers are amazing!) However, my favorite type of music is...showtunes baby!
Favorite book: The Twilight Series. Seriously. Stop laughing.
My best day at News 8 was... the day I went to cover a story and met a new reporter from the competing station who later became my husband.
Favorite way to spend a day off? Sleeping in!
What sports team are you a big fan of? The Chicago White Sox. I grew up watching them with my dad and was able to attend games 1 and 2 of the 2005 World Series when they brought home the championship.
Favorite food: King Crab Legs. Or anything with chocolate.
What do you like about your job? There are so many things. I like that I anchor a show that is more laid back and can allow for more personality and fun to happen. I really like that I am the feature reporter and can shine the spotlight on the ‘good’ news stories in our community. (by the way…if you have an idea, send it to me at jlivingston@wkbt.com)
Do you have a hobby or collect anything special to you? I have a couple of hobbies. I really like photography. I have enjoyed photographing my children and family and friends over the years. I am also a big scrapbooker. I grew up a jock and still like to play tennis and softball and volleyball.
Family: Jennifer is married to News 8 six and ten anchor Mike Thompson. They have three girls together: Katelin, Finley and Quinn.
